The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has issued an urgent appeal to the state government to expedite the appointment of the chairman and members of the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC).

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary on Tuesday, ANCSU highlighted that the posts of chairman and members of the NPSC “have remained vacant since September 13, 2025, following the completion of the previous commission’s term.” The union expressed concern that the absence of a fully constituted commission has “hindered the NPSC’s efficiency, accountability, and ability to uphold transparency and meritocracy in public recruitment processes.”

The prolonged vacancies, the union stated, “have created administrative stagnation and several decisions that require approval of a fully constituted commission have remained pending,” creating “uncertainty and stress among thousands of aspirants.”

ANCSU further stressed that there is “no valid reason in delaying the appointment of the chairman and members” and appealed to the Chief Secretary to “immediately issue the official notification and appoint the new chairman and members without further delay.”
