The 43rd general conference of the Angami Gazetted Officers’ Krotho (AGOK) was held at AGOK Badze, Meriema on Friday, bringing together members and leaders to deliberate on pressing social and developmental issues.
Addressing the gathering, Speaker and peace activist Niketu Iralu said the Nagas are facing “immense crisis” and must be prepared to respond to the “size and complexity” of the challenges ahead. He observed that the crises confronting the Nagas are “local and regional manifestations of continental and global crises.”
Iralu noted that the Angami Public Organisation (APO) and its associated bodies, including the Angami Gazetted Officers’ Krotho, have moved beyond conventional discussions to evolve new thinking, plans and collective action. He emphasized that society as a whole must understand and participate in efforts to confront unprecedented challenges to ensure progress into the future. He also urged members to recognise the signs of rapidly changing times and respond proactively.
President of APO, Thejao Vihienuo, in his address, acknowledged AGOK for working tirelessly and strategically for public welfare and for paving the way for the youth. He stressed that in a fast-changing society, environmental protection must be prioritised and noted the growing influence of artificial intelligence and robotics. He called upon leaders and intellectuals to guide and prepare the younger generation for the future.
Vihienuo described children as the community’s “most priceless possession” and said AGOK, being one of the most intellectual organisations among the Angamis, should guide, protect and encourage them. He further termed AGOK an important opinion-making and influential body and urged it to work in unison with APO for the betterment of the people.
During the conference, AGOK General Secretary Nongozo Rikha presented a detailed report on activities undertaken from 2024 to 2026. General Secretary of SAGOK and Convenor of the Audit Committee, Medoseho Sothu, presented the audit report.
The house also resolved to retain the members of the previous tenure to continue for the 2026–2028 term.
