The Angami Public Organization (APO) has expressed shock over the treatment of the President and leaders of the Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO) during a recent visit to Maova Village, aimed at resolving issues affecting peaceful co-existence between the two communities.

In a statement issued today, the APO described the preplanned, organized attack on the CPO leaders as “a direct challenge for physical confrontation and most uncalled for.” The organization also thanked the CPO leadership for restraining their youth from engaging in violence, preventing further escalation.

The APO highlighted concerns regarding reports of a changing attitude among some Kukis in Angami territory following recent developments in neighboring areas. The organization further noted the growing influx of Kukis into Angami areas as an issue under observation.

In light of the prevailing situation, the APO urged the Kukis, who were granted permission by the forefathers of the Angami people to settle in the territory, to remain grateful and refrain from actions that may disrupt the long-standing tradition of peaceful co-existence.

The APO expressed hope that better sense would prevail and called upon the leaders of Maova Village and the CPO to resolve the issues amicably without further escalation.
