Dimapur, 10 November (MTNews): The All Nagaland Government College Teachers’ Association (ANGCTA) successfully concluded its two-day Triennial Conference cum National Seminar on November 10th, 2023, at the Central Library, Dimapur Government College.

The inaugural session of Day 2 commenced with the arrival of Prof. GT Thong, the Guest of Honor and Pro Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University, Meriema Campus. The event included a Guard of Honor by NCC, Dimapur Government College, and the national anthem led by DGC students.

Prof. Sanjay Sharma, Principal of DGC, welcomed attendees, acknowledging the optimism and challenges accompanying the introduction of the Foundation Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP). ANGCTA President, Ms. A Moamongla Aier, expressed delight at hosting the first Triennial Conference, emphasizing the practical implementation of skill courses and the need to revisit the curriculum of NEP 2020.

Prof. GT Thong addressed the audience, emphasizing the potential of Nagaland in higher education and advocating for infrastructure revamping in government colleges to align with NEP 2020. He stressed the importance of recruiting qualified teachers for quality education.

The conference featured a special song by Ms Titi Rongmei, followed by a vote of thanks from ANGCTA Vice President, Dr Lilongchem Thyug. Dr A Nshoga, Director of the Department of Higher Education, provided insights into the department’s status, discussing GER in colleges and the emphasis on multidisciplinary institutions under NEP 2020.

Two technical sessions in the afternoon saw participants presenting papers on various topics. The Valedictory Session, chaired by Dr Imliwati Longkumer, included a special song by ZGCTA and a presentation on skill-based education in Dimapur Government College.

Prof. Sanjay Sharma, in the valedictory speech, highlighted the transformative impact of NEP 2020 on the education system, removing ambiguity and transitioning it from relative to absolute. Ms. A Moamongla Aier conveyed a message from the Governor of Nagaland and delivered the vote of thanks, concluding the event with closing remarks.

The conference provided a platform for educators to discuss challenges and opportunities in the evolving landscape of higher education.
