Mokokchung, 17 November (MTNews): The Angetyongpang Development Board (ADB) in collaboration with the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services organized a seminar on livestock vaccination for the residents of Angetyongpang assembly constituency area at Sungkomen Ward Community Hall, Mokokchung on 17 November.

The local MLA and Advisor, Department of Water Resources, Tongpang Ozüküm, while addressing the seminar, acknowledged that Angetyongpang faces a development deficit and much remains to be done to mitigate this deficiency. It is in this respect that the Angetyongpang Development Board was instituted to assist in the development of the constituency, he said.

Stating that the ADB would undertake various initiatives, Ozüküm highlighted the importance of stakeholder collaboration for the success of these initiatives. He encouraged the people to cooperate with the ADB, emphasizing the board’s vision for the community. The resource person of the day, Chief Veterinary Officer of Mokokchung, Dr. BM Sunep, spoke on livestock vaccination, delving into the subject of animal diseases, particularly those affecting pigs.

He discussed methods to address these diseases, including vaccination and best practices for piggery farming.

Dr. Sunep also stressed that a society solely dependent on government employment would struggle to progress economically. While commending those who secure government jobs, he cautioned that not every educated youth could be accommodated in the government sector. As an alternative, he suggested that educated youth and those interested consider engaging in piggery farming.

The ADB, comprised of members from all villages and town units under the Angetyongpang Assembly Constituency, was instituted with the primary objective of working for the economic development of the constituency area.

Representatives and stakeholders from all villages and town units, as well as party workers from the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), attended the event. ADB convener Lepzung Pongen highlighted the upcoming works and activities to be undertaken by the board.
