The Ao Lanur Telongjem Chumoukedima (ALTC) carried out its annual community service initiative with reverence and unity as members gathered to clean the Naga Cemetery. This year’s programme included a special act of remembrance for five women, Yangerinla Ao, Bendangla Jamir, Lepzungsangla Pongen, Imtimenla Ao and N Amongla Ao, who lost their lives in a bus accident on January 31, 2026.
Altogether, 150 members participated in the social work, which coincided with Good Friday, a day symbolising sacrifice, redemption and hope. The initiative served both as an act of community service and a tribute to lives lost.
The programme was led in prayer by Dr. Imtisangba Ao, Pastor of Ao Baptist Church Chumoukedima, who offered words of comfort and encouragement, emphasising faith, healing and resilience in times of loss.
ALTC President Talisunep Walling said the initiative reflected a commitment to social responsibility and spiritual reflection. “As we clean spaces of remembrance, we also reflect with gratitude and humility. Today, we honour the legacy of our sisters,” he said.
He also acknowledged the participation of Ao Senso Telongjem Chumoukedima, Watsu Telen Chumoukedima and Ao Students’ Union Chumoukedima, and thanked the Chumoukedima Town Council, led by Chairman Lhousito Khro, for providing refreshments.
The annual service underscored ALTC’s commitment to community, faith and collective action.
