In what can be described as a historic development, the Ao Lanur Telungjem, touted to be the apex youth organization of the Ao community, was formally launched today under the auspices of the Ao Senden. The Ao Lanur Telungjem (Interim Body) will function temporarily with the president of the Mokokchung Town Lanur Telungjem (MTLT) as convener and the president of the Dimapur Ao Lanur Telungjem (Dimapur Ao Youth Organization) as co-convener until its constitution is adopted.

Speaking on the significance of launching the Ao Lanur Telungjem (Interim Body), the president of Ao Senden, Marsanen Imsong, stated that a constitution-drafting committee has been appointed, with Imlikumzuk Longkumer as its convener. He also mentioned that the two youth organizations have been entrusted with mobilizing other youth organizations during this interim period. He highlighted the indispensable role of youth in the traditional Ao Naga village polity, a role that will be reflected in the constitution.

Regarding the vision behind establishing the youth organization, the Ao Senden president emphasized that the Ao Lanur Telungjem is being created today to build the future of the community. While acknowledging that many organizations initially formed with noble objectives eventually falter, the Ao Senden president cautioned the Ao Lanur Telungjem not to fall prey to divisive interests but to remain committed to the pursuit of truth, even in the face of challenges. “What you do today will determine whether our community will rise or fall tomorrow,” the Ao Senden chief told Ao Lanur Telungjem. He urged the youth to uphold truth and remain steadfast, courageously placing their faith in God, adding that truth prevails only when there is courage. He warned that one loses courage when engaging in or supporting corruption, noting that pervasive corruption currently plagues Naga society, stripping individuals of the courage to stand for truth.

The Ao Lanur Telungjem will function under the aegis of the Ao Senden.

Noklennungsang revealed that the long-felt need for instituting the Ao Lanur Telungjem was approved by the six Ao range councils and the executive body, while Lipokmeren stated that the youth body will now function as the fourth pillar of the community alongside the Ao Senden, Watsü Mungdang, and Ao Kaketshir Mungdang. He also urged the youth body to uphold truth, fight corruption, and safeguard Ao Lim.
