Mokokchung, July 8 (MTNews): The sixth Arangtet Exam Convocation program was held on July 8 at the Ao Senden Conference Hall in Mokokchung by the Ao Senden Literature Board (ASLB). The ASLB’s Ao proficiency test is called Arangtet Tatidang.
Pasmashree T. Senka Ao, who served as the Convocation’s keynote speaker was among the 11 people who received recognition from ASLB for their contributions to the advancement of the Ao language and literature through a variety of venues.
In his address, he provided a brief overview of the growth and development of the Ao language and suggested that efforts be made to include the Ao language in the 8th schedule of the Indian Constitution.
Further, he advised the graduating students to work and support the development of the Ao language rather than simply be content with holding a degree.
Repabenla spoke on behalf of the graduating students, and Ao Senden chief Chubawati Longchar also offered a brief exhortation, urging the graduates to put more effort into furthering the Ao language than only merely concentrating on landing a teaching position.
At the same ceremony, Rev. Longri also announced the publication of a book called “Ao Oshi Tensenyim” written by T. Senka Ao.
President Ao Senden and Dr. L. Temjen Jamir, Chairman of the ASLB, gave the graduates their certificates.
S. Wati Ozukum delivered the vote of appreciation after Dr. Medemmayang had earlier delivered the welcoming address while Toshisangla chaired the ceremony.
Three distinct courses – the Post Graduate Diploma in Ao, the Arangtet Certificate Course, and the Arangtet Diploma Course – saw a total of 93 students graduate.
