In what can be termed as a landmark decision in the history of Ao literature development, the Ao Senden has informed that the Ao Senden Literature Board (ASLB) shall be dissolved and an ‘Ao Academy’ will be instituted in its place soon. This announcement was made by Ao Senden during a joint sitting of the apex body with the ASLB on Friday. However, no definitive date was announced for the same.

The ‘Ao Academy’ shall function under Ao Senden and will be responsible for the development of Ao language and literature. It was mentioned that the institutionalization of the proposed ‘Ao Academy’ was conceptualized a long time ago. The academy, when established, will further enthuse the development of Ao language and literature, Ao Senden said.
Further, Ao Senden also said that significant manpower will be required to manage the ‘Ao Academy’ when it is eventually established and sought the cooperation and support of all concerned.
Ao Senden president Chubawati Longchar, vice president I Imkong Jamir, executive member Meyizülu Ozükum; ASLB chairman Dr L Temjen Jamir, ASLB secretary I Temjen Tzüdir, ASLB treasurer Y Lanutemjen, ASLB member S Wati Ozüküm; Watsü Mungdang president Arenla Longkumer; and Ao Kaketshir Mungdang president Lanutoshi Aier spoke at the joint sitting held Friday.
Ao Senden also acknowledged and felicitated the incumbent members of the ASLB for their contributions and yeoman service rendered towards development of Ao language and literature as entrusted by it since 2006.
