The Ao Senden has issued a directive reiterating the collective stance of the five tribes — Angami, Ao, Lotha, Rengma and Sumi — in opposing the State Government’s handling of the Nagaland Reservation Policy review.

In a notification, the Ao Senden said the issue holds paramount importance for the present and future of the youth. It maintained that the government acted against the will of the five tribes by including members from the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO), Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) and Tenyimia Union Nagaland (TUN) in the review process, despite objections.

Reiterating the five tribes’ earlier resolution to boycott all government functions until their demands are met, the Ao Senden instructed community members not to participate in the official Independence Day celebrations on August 15, with the exception of government servants, GBs, NCC, and Bharat Scouts & Guides. Schools, colleges, students, and organizations from the five tribes were also told to abstain from all related activities.

The notification warned that anyone defying the directive would be doing so “at their own risk.”
