Mokokchung, August 6 (MTNews): The application procedure for the ‘Post-Matric Scholarship’ and ‘Pre-Matric Scholarship’ schemes for students from minority communities began this week, with the deadlines for the Post-Matric and Pre-Matric Scholarship schemes for minorities being October 31, 2022 and September 30, 2022, respectively.

In June 2006, Prime Minister Modi announced the ‘Post-Matric Scholarship’ and ‘Pre-Matric Scholarship’ schemes for students from minority communities, under which a scholarship will be awarded to students who received not less than 50 percent marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination and whose parents/guardians’ annual income from all sources did not exceed Rs. 1 lakh for pre-matric and Rs. 2 lakh for post-matric.

The Post-Matric Scholarship scheme’s goal is to give scholarships to meritorious students from economically disadvantaged parts of the minority population in order to provide them with better prospects for higher education, boost their rate of attainment in higher education, and improve their employability.

Meanwhile, the pre-matriculation fellowship is intended to encourage parents from minority communities to send their school-age children to school, to alleviate their financial burden on school education, and to sustain their efforts to support their children’s completion of school education. The initiative will create the groundwork for their educational attainment and level the playing field in the competitive employment sector. For more details, log into https://scholarships.gov.in.
