From working in the mechanical industry to nursing, ARMS Incorporation, a sending organization in Dimapur, has facilitated approximately 60 individuals from Nagaland to work in Japan.

ARMS Incorporation, set to complete two years this January, recently signed an MoU with IDAN. They have expanded to Nagaland University in Meriema and plan to expand to Fazl Ali College in Mokokchung. Additionally, they plan to establish their own office in the future, focusing on Japanese linguistic programs.

Temjen Bursanen Jamir, Center Leader, explained to Mokokchung Times that they provide Japanese language training (N5 and N4) for six months. During this period, they also offer job opportunities from various companies in Japan.

“The jobs could be in 14 different sectors—mechanical, industrial work, electrical assembly, fisheries, agriculture, hospitality, and nursing. Recently, we have been trying to create opportunities for ground workers and air force positions as well. That is our goal,” Jamir stated regarding the job opportunities they provide.

He further added that most companies are located in rural areas because living costs are lower there, and therefore, they also target those regions.

Regarding whether it is a facilitation between the Government of India and Japan, Jamir said, “The program called TITP (Technical Intern Training Program) is initiated by GoI and Japan and other countries. They provide private job sectors in Japan and to facilitate this kind of program. So, what they do is, they inquire 3rd party groups such as ARMS company which is a sending organization. We, on behalf of different companies, come to India, recruit students so that we send from our company to Japan.”

He added that while it is not a fully government-run program, it is a private endeavor; however, they do receive support from government bodies.

Speaking on the challenges they face, Jamir said, “Many students are currently pursuing studies with the goal of securing a government job, so that’s a significant challenge. Nonetheless, we are able to recruit 15-20 students per batch. We conduct six batches annually, with each batch starting in consecutive months, such as February, April, August, and so on.”

Regarding eligibility, he mentioned that they target students who have completed 12th grade or are graduates and who are interested in working in Japan. The age criteria range from 18 to 30 years but have a relaxation up to 35.

Regarding guaranteed employment, he stated, “We guarantee 100% placement. However, the actual employment depends on how well the students perform during the interview.”

This interview was conducted on the sidelines of the Mega Job event held in FAC, Mokokchung today. Takumi Ishiwatari, Japanese teacher for the ARMS Nagaland Center also attended the event.

Speaking of his experience in Nagaland, he told Mokokchung Times, it has only been days since he had been in Nagaland but has been having a ‘pleasant stay’. He shared that ‘rice’ is something he finds common in Nagaland and Japan.
