The MIP of the NSCN/GPRN (YA) on Sunday claimed that its armed wing, the “Naga Army Tactical Unit,” carried out an attack on the 4th Assam Rifles camp stationed at Ranglom village in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh at around 8:00 am.
In a statement issued to the media, the outfit alleged that the Indian security forces imposed a lockdown in the area following the attack, claiming that the extent of casualties could not be ascertained. These claims, however, could not be independently verified at the time of filing this report.
The statement further alleged that security forces, following the incident, harassed civilians in the area. No official confirmation regarding civilian harassment has been issued by the authorities so far.
While expressing what it termed as “regret” over the impact on civilians, the group justified the attack as part of its ongoing armed campaign. The outfit also claimed that such operations would continue.
Security agencies have not issued any official statement regarding the alleged attack or the claims made by the NSCN/GPRN (YA) at the time of publication.
