Assam is positioning itself as a key player in India’s green energy revolution as it prepares to host the “Advantage Assam 2.0” business summit later this month. The state is actively courting investors, with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma leading the efforts to attract major industrial players.

Following a tour of South Korea and Japan, where he engaged with top business leaders and government officials, Sarma met leading industrialists in Mumbai on Saturday to promote Assam’s investment potential.

“Had a great meeting with Shri Mukeshbhai Ambani and Shri Anant Ambani yesterday, and I truly appreciate their time. We had an in-depth discussion on positioning Assam as India’s next hub for Industry 4.0 and explored ways in which Reliance can collaborate with us on this transformative journey,” Sarma posted on X on Sunday.

In a meeting with JSW Group Chairman Sajjan Jindal, Sarma highlighted Assam’s growing opportunities in infrastructure and energy, stressing the government’s commitment to fostering an investment-friendly ecosystem. He informed Jindal about the recently approved Assam Startup and Innovation Policy, which aims to support 5,000 startups and create 100,000 job opportunities over the next five years.

The Assam CM also pitched the state’s green energy initiatives, emphasizing investment opportunities in floating solar projects, bio-CNG, green hydrogen, and ATJ fuel. He noted that Assam’s investor-friendly policies are paving the way for a sustainable future.

Sarma further met Welspun World Chairman BK Goenka to discuss potential investments in textiles, energy, water treatment, and infrastructure. He invited Goenka to participate in the upcoming summit, assuring that Assam offers a conducive business environment for Welspun’s expansion.

Additionally, Sarma held discussions with Essar Group Vice Chairman Ravi Ruia regarding prospective collaborations in manufacturing electric trucks in Assam and investing in renewable energy projects.
