Assam literary delegation visits Nagaland to strengthen cultural ties

A delegation from Kamrup Mahanagar Zila Sahitya Sabha, Assam, led by its president Prafulla Barman, visited Nagaland on July 25 to strengthen cultural and literary ties between the two neighbouring states.

The delegation visited the Nagaland State Museum, Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, and Kohima Cathedral before attending an interaction with members of Kohima Sahitya Sabha.

Speakers including former MLA Medokul Sophie, Deputy Director of Art & Culture Teisovikuolie Therie and other representatives highlighted the importance of inter-state cultural unity. Cultural presentations from Nagaland and Assam also showcased the traditions of both states.

The visit aimed to support the revamping of Kohima Sahitya Sabha and establish a long-term literary and cultural partnership between Nagaland and Assam. The proposed collaboration will be dedicated to Bharat Ratna Sudhakantha Dr Bhupen Hazarika and late Kumbha Angami.

The delegation expressed appreciation to the Nagaland government for facilitating the visit.
