A consultative meeting organized by the Border Peace Coordination Committee (BPCC) of Assam-Nagaland (BPCC[A-N]) was held today at Jungle Block High School, bringing together teachers from Jungle Block and Bongshi Gopal High Schools, located near the Assam-Nagaland border, along with members of the Friendship Forum of Tzurangkong.

The meeting, aimed at organizing a three-day student exchange program at Tzurangkong Government High School, focused on facilitating cultural exchanges between students from the two Assam-based schools and their counterparts in Tzurangkong. The event, set to take place from January 30 to February 1, 2025, will invite 30 class 9 students from each of the two Assam schools, as well as a number of teachers and parents.

The Friendship Forum (Tembayim Committee) of Tzurangkong, led by its President Pangertoba Pongen, played an integral role in the discussions. The forum, along with Tzurangkong Kaketshir Mungsang, will oversee the accommodation and rationing for the participants, with support from local households in Chungtiayimsen and Watiyim villages, situated near the Tzurangkong High School. These villages will sponsor one student and one parent, while teachers from the two Assam schools will be hosted by Tzurangkong High School staff.

The student exchange program aims to foster meaningful interaction among the students, while providing an opportunity for teachers and parents to build lasting connections. The three-day event will include a variety of activities designed to promote cooperation and friendship between the communities.

The meeting was chaired by BPCC(A-N) President Jiten Buragohain and co-chaired by Vice President O Sangpang. The session was attended by BPCC(A-N) executive members from both Assam and Nagaland, along with the headmasters and teachers from both schools.

The Border Peace Coordination Committee (Assam-Nagaland) has been working tirelessly by maintaining peaceful atmosphere in the border. BPCC (A-N) has established peace in Saringyim and Naganijan border conflict through sincerity and dedication since 2013. The BPCC (A-N) encourage unity and cooperation between the two sides by the likes of organizing sports meet and cultural exchange program annually.
