Reaffirming its commitment to promoting sports, youth engagement and community partnership, Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Kiphire District Cricket Association (KDCA) under the aegis of the Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA), organised a Senior Men’s Cricket Tournament at Kiphire, Nagaland, from 6 to 8 August 2026.
The tournament aimed to promote sportsmanship, healthy competition and a spirit of togetherness, while providing local players and youth with a platform to showcase their sporting talent and strengthening ties between Assam Rifles and the local community.
Three teams, namely Kiphire XI, DC XI and Rising Sun Battalion, participated in the tournament, with each team comprising 16 players. The event was inaugurated in the presence of Longtiba Sangtam, ADC, Kiphire Headquarters, and the Commanding Officer of 30 Assam Rifles.
The participating teams displayed commendable sportsmanship, teamwork and competitive spirit throughout the tournament. Rising Sun Battalion emerged as the winner following an enthusiastic and closely contested tournament.
The successful conduct of the tournament provided an important platform for positive interaction between Assam Rifles and the local community through sports. The event further strengthened trust, friendship and mutual cooperation while encouraging youth to pursue sports, maintain physical fitness and adopt a healthy and disciplined lifestyle.
The initiative reflected the shared commitment of Assam Rifles and the local community to promoting sports and contributing to a stronger and more prosperous society.
