Assam Rifles reaffirms commitment to peace amid NSF’s non-cooperation call

Amidst the call by the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) for all its federating units to extend non-cooperation to the Indian armed or paramilitary forces in opposition to the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) of 1958, which they vehemently condemn as a draconian measure imposed on their homeland, Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) met Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio on 16 May reaffirming it commitment as ‘Friends of the Northeast’.

Major General Manish Kumar, SM, IGAR (North) called upon Neiphiu Rio at Kohima on 16 May.6, 2024. According to India Today NE, the meeting held profound importance as it served as a platform for fostering stronger ties between the Assam Rifles and the Nagaland state administration.

During the encounter, Major General Manish Kumar conveyed greetings from the Assam Rifles fraternity to the Chief Minister and, by extension, to the people of Nagaland.
