Mokokchung, 7 February (MTNews): In response to an article published on 7 February 2024 titled “NSCN-IM condemns inhuman treatment by Assam Rifles personnel,” the Assam Rifles have issued a rebuttal to clarify the incident involving DK Korungthang.
Contrary to the claims made by NSCN-IM, the PRO of HQ IGAR (South), Mantripukhri has clarified that Korungthang’s vehicle was not confiscated. The Maruti Gypsy belonging to Korungthang remained untouched, with all belongings, including cash, left undisturbed.
“Based on credible information, Mr Korungthang was questioned by the Security Forces. Based on the information provided by Mr Korungthang himself, the vehicle and the cash were retrieved from the initial site by the security forces and promptly deposited with the local Police as evidence,” the security forces clarified.
The Security Forces further emphasized that the operation was conducted with utmost professionalism, adhering to the law and respecting individual rights. They reassured the public of their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the region.
