The Naga Students’ Union, Delhi (NSUD) has voiced deep concern over what it termed the “illegal regularisation of Assistant Professors in government colleges across Nagaland”, calling it “an act that strikes at the root of academic integrity in the state.”

The NSUD argued that the issue is more than just about appointments, but about the hard work and dedication of Naga educators who have qualified through national exams. “This is not just about appointments; it’s about a generation of Naga educators—bright, disciplined, and driven—who have spent sleepless nights preparing, qualifying national-level examinations, so they could have the chance to impart quality and effective education,” the union said in a statement.

The NSUD further emphasized that Nagaland needs competent and committed educators to shape a better, corruption-free future for the state. The union condemned the regularization as an attack on fairness and transparency, calling it an attempt to “legalize what was outrightly illegal from the start.”

NSUD expressed solidarity with other organizations, such as the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union, the Nagaland NET Qualified Forum, and the Combined Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN), who have opposed the regularization.

The NSUD demanded that the authorities “immediately recall all instruments by which the said posts have been regularized” and conduct a fair examination for the vacancies. They also urged that the recruitment process should not disrupt the academic progress of students.

In its closing remarks, the NSUD called on the people of Nagaland to support the movement, stating, “Let this statement not be seen as mere dissent but as a cry for justice, a call to protect the dignity of education and to secure the future of the Nagas.”
