The Angami Students’ Union (ASU) has strongly condemned what it termed as “unacceptable hostility” shown by the people of Maova village on February 13, 2026, against the leadership of the Chakhroma Public Organization (CPO) and accompanying officials.

The Union stated that it was “compelled to issue this statement following the unacceptable hostility shown by the people of Maova village on the 13th February, 2026, against the leadership of the Chakhroma Public Organization and the accompanying officials/members who were present to maintain order.”

The ASU said it was “deeply unfortunate and entirely uncalled for” that leaders and those “representing the administration, who stepped into the gap to mediate and resolve a conflict, was met with physical assault and injury.”

It described the incident as “an act of aggression and pre-determined batter against the people working for peace,” adding that such actions are “alien to our culture and land.”

Stating that “the Naga homeland is and must remain a zone of peace,” the Union asserted that it “will not tolerate any community whether acting against another tribe or their own brothers resorting to such high-handedness to settle scores.” While maintaining that it has “always valued diplomatic solutions,” the ASU said the “recent violence is a line crossed.”

The statement further advised “the aggressors involved that any further escalation of this tension will be viewed as a direct threat to the stability of our region and a challenge to the established authorities.”

The Union also expressed its support for the ultimatum served by the Chakhroma Youth Organization (CYO), stating that it “recognizes and stands behind the ultimatum already served by the CYO.” It urged the concerned parties “to respect this timeframe and prioritize a resolution that restores the dignity of our social fabric.”

While remaining “firm in our stance against such lawlessness,” the ASU said it believes “in the strength of our traditional systems to deliver justice” and expressed trust that “a sincere effort will be made to rectify this unwarranted provocation immediately as the preservation of our long-standing harmony is a collective responsibility.”

“The Union remains vigilant, expecting that the law of the land will prevail to ensure such unfortunate events are never repeated,” it added.

The ASU further stated that it would “like to pronounce it crystal clear that, we shall never allow any myth to rewrite the history of our people, and those residing in our homeland must be reminded about ‘Who is who’.”
The statement was issued by ASU President Diezevisie Nakhro and General Secretary Rajuselie Chucha.
