A capacity building program was conducted by ATMA Mokokchung, Chuchuyimlang Block on 16th May 2025 at Yaongyimti Old and Yaongyimti New villages. The program aimed to strengthen the capabilities of farmers and equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to help increase their income and reduce post-harvest losses.
A session on “Oyster Mushroom Cultivation” was conducted at Yaongyimti Old village, where the resource person, Smti. Aolemla Kichu, BTM, Chuchuyimlang Block, explained various methods of oyster mushroom cultivation.
She highlighted the steps for preparing the substrate, spawning it, and managing the crop for fruiting. She also gave a hands-on demonstration of the step-by-step process of oyster mushroom cultivation using the hot water treatment method. Techniques on how to tie and hang the polybags were also imparted to the participants.
Further, a capacity building session on “Value Addition of Horticultural Crops” was conducted at Yaongyimti New village. The resource person, Smti. Chubaienla Jamir, ATM, Chuchuyimlang Block, explained various methods to reduce post-harvest losses of horticultural crops, such as pickling, drying, fermentation, and canning. She also gave a hands-on demonstration on the preparation of chilli pickle and banana chips.
Altogether, 20 participants attended the program.
