ATMA Kobulong Block launches poultry farm school and vaccine training at Longpa village

The Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Kobulong Block, Mokokchung, inaugurated a poultry farm school at Longpa village today, coupled with a capacity building program on proper vaccine administration techniques in poultry birds. The initiatives aim to equip local farmers with sustainable and modern poultry management practices, enhancing bird health, productivity, and income.


Senkameren Longkumer was appointed as the farm school teacher. His farm at Shingo Hudak, known for its concentration of settled farms, will serve as a practical learning hub. C. Amongla Jamir, Block Technology Manager, explained the farm school concept, emphasizing learning by doing and farmer-to-farmer extension. She briefed students on key activities, including frontline demonstrations on integrated crop, pest, and nutrient management, and highlighted the responsibilities of the farm school teacher.

In his address, Senkameren Longkumer thanked ATMA for recognizing his contributions and encouraged farmers to remain patient and consistent, noting their efforts would benefit future generations.

The program featured training by Dr. Nemjemyanger, Farm Manager, State Cattle Breeding Farm, on poultry housing, disease control, and proper vaccine administration. He explained different vaccine types, vaccination schedules, consulting veterinarians, ensuring vaccine quality, and reducing stress in birds. Hands-on training and interactive sessions were conducted to strengthen practical knowledge.

Poultry feeds and Ranikhet disease vaccines were distributed to participants. A total of 25 farmers attended the farm school inauguration, while 11 farmers participated in the vaccine training, alongside ATMA staff and the resource person. These initiatives mark a significant step in improving local poultry rearing practices and fostering sustainable livestock development in Mokokchung.
