Mokokchung, 11 June (MTNews): On 9 and 10 June, a training and demonstration program was conducted by ATMA, Mangkolemba Block, which took place in Mangkolemba town and Khar village.
The focus of the training program in Mangkolemba town was on cultivating leguminous crops for sustainable agriculture. Limawapangla Longkumer, BTM of Mangkolemba Block, provided training to farmers, highlighting the benefits of leguminous crops, different varieties available, and their importance. Additionally, the training covered topics such as crop rotation and soil fertility. A total of 24 farmers participated in the training, and they were given seeds at the end of the program.
On 10 June, a demonstration on the preparation of bio-waste decomposer was conducted in Milak, Khar. Alemnungla, ATM of Mangkolemba Block, explained to the farmers the purpose of waste decomposer in organic farming. She informed them about its ability to decompose organic waste, such as agro waste, animal waste, and kitchen waste, within 40 days. Alemnungla also discussed the beneficial effects of waste decomposers on soil health and seed treatment. The farmers who attended the program received waste decomposer, a 100-liter plastic drum, and jaggery. A total of 10 farmers participated in this demonstration.
