The program, organised by the District Industries Centre Dimapur in association with the Nagaland Pollution Control Board, brought together brick kiln owners and workers to discuss pollution control measures and environmentally sustainable practices in the sector.

Held at Hotel Saramati, the program focused on reducing air pollution caused by brick kiln operations and promoting cleaner technologies in line with the objectives of the National Clean Air Programme.

Addressing the gathering, Yanathung Kithan highlighted the impact of deteriorating ambient air quality on human health, the environment and climate.

He stressed that maintaining clean air standards is a shared responsibility and said effective pollution control measures are necessary to ensure a safer and healthier environment.

Senior Environmental Engineer of the NPCB, Aghali A Swu, spoke on environmental compliance in the brick kiln sector and underlined the need for cleaner technologies and adherence to pollution control norms.

She noted that while the brick kiln industry plays an important role in construction activities and employment generation, it is also associated with significant environmental concerns that require stricter compliance and sustainable operational practices.

The program also featured an interactive session where participants raised queries and shared suggestions relating to pollution control and industry practices.

The event was chaired by N Abeno Lotha, Functional Manager of DIC Dimapur, while the welcome address was delivered by General Manager Chikuotho Nyusuo. Lucy Ngouri, Functional Manager, proposed the vote of thanks.
