An Awareness and Registration Drive on the Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (PM NAPS) was held at the Government Industrial Training Institute in Kohima on 21 November 2025. The event aimed to promote apprenticeship opportunities and enhance industry linked learning among young trainees in Nagaland. Director of Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Savio Visa, delivered the welcome address and greeted officials from the Regional Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, representatives of the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship and the National Skill Development Corporation, Sector Skill Councils, trainees and participating establishments. He expressed appreciation for their presence and support.

Visa said the programme represents an important step toward strengthening the skill development ecosystem of Nagaland. He observed that while the state has talented youth, there remains a gap between classroom learning and practical industry exposure. He said apprenticeship helps bridge this gap by allowing trainees to gain real workplace experience, enabling their skills to be aligned with industry requirements. Visa highlighted that under PM NAPS, the Government of India has created a structured system to encourage apprenticeship participation through financial incentives, flexibility and digital support via the PM NAP portal. For Nagaland, where industry exposure is still developing, the scheme provides an important opportunity to improve employability while supporting local industries with trained workers.
He encouraged establishments to actively participate, noting that the success of the programme depends on involvement from enterprises across sectors. The event included presentations, hands on registration on the PM NAP portal and interactions with Sector Skill Councils and Third Party Aggregators. A presentation was given by Assistant Project Officer Menguzelie, followed by discussions and participant interaction. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Er Enchiba Longkumer, Principal of Government ITI Kohima.
