Amidst ongoing tensions between the Angami Youth Organization (AYO) and the NSCN-K (Khango) group over threats of death penalties for failing to pay taxes, the AYO has announced a public rally. The rally, scheduled for Tuesday, 6th August 2024, at 11:00 AM, will take place at the Old MLA Hostel Junction in Phoolbari, Kohima.

The rally aims to protest against unabated illegal taxation, harassment, intimidation, and death threats faced by the common people. The AYO has called for the mass participation and support of all concerned citizens and organizations. Participants have been requested to wear traditional attire of their respective communities.

Police register suo moto case over NSCN-K Khango Group death threat

Nagaland Director General of Police (DGP) Rupin Sharma disclosed on Friday that the police had registered a suo moto case concerning the death threat issued by the NSCN-K Khango group.

Speaking with media persons, DGP Sharma stated that the case was registered based on the press conference held by the Angami Youth Organisation (AYO). He said that a thorough investigation would be conducted to identify those responsible for issuing the threat.

Regarding the recent police pursuit case in Niuland, where an individual lost his life, Sharma termed the incident an accident according to the investigation findings. He mentioned that the deceased was a suspect in a molestation case and that the Dimapur Police had arrested ten individuals in connection with it. Sharma added that the group had allegedly been involved in over five similar cases of blackmail, using objectionable photos to extort money or valuables from victims.

Sharma also stated that the police had successfully traced money transfers made through digital platforms and retrieved some valuables from the accused’s relatives.

In relation to the Abdul Kayum Taludkar murder case, the DGP disclosed that the police were aware of the perpetrators and those who issued the order for the killing. However, he declined to provide further details for operational reasons.
