The Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) has reiterated the 1993 resolution of the Angami Public Organisation on “One Government, One Tax,” cautioning workers of various Naga political groups against engaging in harassment, taxation, or extortion targeting Angami businesses and individuals, particularly within Angami jurisdiction.
In a press release, AYO stated, “It is imminent that, with the onset of festive season, harassment and extortion from workers of various Naga political groups will significantly increase.” The organisation urged the Ceasefire Monitoring Group, the Ceasefire Supervisory Board, and their agencies to step up vigilance and ensure the safety and security of the business community and the general public.
The statement emphasized that AYO will remain alert to counteract the activities of anti-social elements, warning that “defaulters shall be dealt with befittingly.” The organisation further appealed to law enforcement agencies and Naga political groups to make concerted efforts in creating a conducive environment for celebrating the festive season in the true Christian spirit.
