The Ayurvidya School Health Programme (ASHP), Peren observed National Ayurveda Day at Mhainamtsi Government High School on September 23 under the theme “Ayurveda for a Healthier Tomorrow”.

Kekuhungbe Iheilung, Chairman, Mhainamtsi Village Council, who was the chief guest, encouraged participants to adopt healthy lifestyles and make use of locally available food. He also urged them to utilise available resources responsibly and said investing in young people through healthy habits, education and access to healthcare and social security was essential for improving the lives of future generations.
Dr Chapkelilakbo Dailiam, Medical Officer, ASHP, Peren, delivered an awareness talk on balanced diets and preventive healthcare.
Dr Kezuyipeule, Medical Officer, AYUSH, Old Peren Health and Wellness Centre, spoke on Ayurveda, career opportunities, identification of medicinal plants and their basic uses.
Hentinthang Singsong, Area Education Officer, Peren, as special invitee, stressed the importance of healthy lifestyles and said maintaining good health should begin with individual responsibility. He encouraged participants to become ambassadors for health awareness and disseminate information on activities undertaken by the medical department.
A special song was presented by students of Mhainamtsi Government High School, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Ingaulule Liegise, Headmistress.
The programme was chaired by Dr Chapkelakbo Dailiam and concluded with the planting of medicinal plants in the school’s herbal garden.
