Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said that Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav provides a unique opportunity for the Northeastern states to come together and take stock of the strides made in developing the region and nation since independence.

 

He said this while speaking at the “Interaction between State Governments of North East and the Central Government” organized as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav North East Festival at Guwahati today.

 

The Chief Minister said it is a chance for the states to review its priorities and bring the benefits of the development to the people at a faster pace. Rio, however, pointed out that there is a need to explore the full potential of the northeast region, its rich biodiversity, unique products, culture and traditions. To this, he said, Nagaland government continues to focus on providing the infrastructure needed for the people to connect with the rest of the world.

 

Chief Minister Rio also said, as part of the Prime Minister’s Act East Policy, the region needs to develop the necessary infrastructure linkages, and sufficient production capacity in order to tap the markets of the South East Asian countries.
