Phek, January 14 (MTNews): The inaugural function of the Sükrünye festival by the Chakhesang Tribe was held at the local ground Phek District HQ today with NPF Leader of Legislature Party, MLA Kuzholuzo Azo Nienu MLA as the inaugural guest.
Stating that the objective of the Sükrünye festival is to renew the body and soul and make oneself holy by cleansing the body and soul of the village as a whole, and bringing forth blessing and unity amongst all communities of Nagaland, Azo called upon the people to cleanse their bodies and souls in the Christian spirit, forgive and forget their past deeds, and strengthen the Naga brotherhood.
Azo also delivered Sükrünye greetings on behalf of the Government of Nagaland to all Chakhesang people, and expressed gratitude to the Phek Town Youth Society and Nehru Yuva Kendra Phek for organizing the Sükrünye festival in a grand manner.
Azo on Clean Election
Azo Nienu today advocated for clean elections in the state election and urged every voter that “unless we submit ourselves and practice clean elections, it can never be materialized.”
The NPF leader stated, “We know the need for clean elections and its importance but we fail to abide by our conscience and fall to the temptation of our short term desires and wants.”
He asserted, “If we expect a good government and good leadership, we must surrender ourselves against money and power and submit to God then only we can produce true leaders for the Naga people.”
Azo also said that people do not realize how much power each voter had to change the society to a better and prosperous one. “Once we sell our vote, we do not have that power to change our society,” he said. “And we regret selling our vote for electing the wrong leaders only thereafter,” he added.
