In a major push to revive and strengthen basketball in the district, the Basketball Association Mokokchung District (BAMD) has announced the launch of a targeted coaching clinic for promising young players, selected from various schools following the recent Inter High School and Higher Secondary School Basketball Tournament.
The initiative, set to begin on August 2, 2025, at 6:00 a.m. at the BAMD Basketball Court, Imkongmeren Sports Complex, aims to nurture emerging talent and develop a strong grassroots foundation for the sport. The coaching clinic will continue through the Durga Puja holidays.
In separate letter addressed to several educational institutions, BAMD informed schools that selected students have been identified based on their potential and performance during the recent tournament. The association has invited these students to participate in the clinic, where they will receive structured training and mentorship.
“As part of our ongoing efforts to revive basketball across Mokokchung District and build a strong foundation for the sport, we are pleased to launch a targeted initiative aimed at nurturing young talents and strengthening grassroots basketball with a focus on the future,” the letter stated.
BAMD has requested the cooperation and support of schools to ensure the active participation of the selected players.
