Medziphema recently hosted a workshop on banana fibre, facilitated through a partnership between Coffelady and Ginger Nova. Held on July 25, the session aimed to educate participants about the sustainable benefits and practical uses of banana fibre. The training covered the entire banana fibre production process, from harvesting to processing and product creation. Attendees engaged in hands-on activities, learning about the potential of banana fibre in various applications, including textiles and eco-friendly products.


Participants were enthusiastic about the potential applications of banana fibre in various industries and left with the skills to incorporate this green technology into their own projects. The successful collaboration highlighted the growing movement towards sustainable practices in local industries.

In addition to the Medziphema workshop, Runway The Banana Community (TBCom) conducted a banana fibre training program at Itiki School on July 18 as part of their summer camp. This initiative aimed to educate and inspire students about the incredible potential of banana fibre, a sustainable and versatile material. Over the course of the program, students engaged in a variety of hands-on activities, exploring both traditional methods and modern applications, and gaining practical skills that highlight the environmental benefits and innovative uses of this resource.


The program at Itiki School was a success, equipping students with new skills and insights into sustainable materials.
