Chumbenthung Humtsoe from Nagaland has successfully completed the Sports Performance Specialist Level 1 certification. The Basketball Federation of India, in collaboration with the FIBA Regional Office Asia, conducted the examination in Chennai. This prestigious certification event took place in ECR, Chennai, and was led by Amir Eid from Lebanon, the founder of Miami Fitness and the strength and conditioning coach for Saudi Arabia Basketball. The program also featured the esteemed former Indian basketball coach Veselin Matic from Serbia, the Nagaland Basketball Association said in an update.
Humtsoe’s achievement is a testament to his dedication and passion for the sport. As a National Institute of Sports (NIS) coach from Patiala, he has continually demonstrated his commitment to enhancing his coaching skills and knowledge. His qualifications also include the World Association of Basketball Coaches (WABC) Level 1 certification.
His coaching career is marked by notable successes and contributions. He has served as the head coach for the Nagaland Men’s basketball team across three categories: Senior, Junior, and Sub-Junior Nationals. Additionally, he played a significant role in the North East Games 2024 as the head coach for the women’s team and the assistant coach for the men’s team. Under his guidance, the Nagaland team secured a silver medal at the North East Games 2022.
His extensive experience as a player in multiple Senior National Championships has further enriched his coaching abilities, providing him with a well-rounded perspective on the game. Chumbenthung Humtsoe’s recent certification as a Sports Performance Specialist Level 1 adds another feather to his cap, positioning him as a key figure in advancing basketball in Nagaland and beyond.
