As part of the ongoing Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative to empower girls through sports, two badminton coaching programs have been launched and planned in Nagaland — one currently underway in Kohima, and another scheduled to begin in Noklak in the first week of July 2025.

In Kohima, a two-week Badminton Coaching Camp for Girls commenced on 23rd June 2025 at the Indoor Badminton Stadium, Thegabakha. Organised by the District Administration and Department of Social Welfare, with support from the Kohima District Badminton Association (KDBA), the camp has brought together 30 young girls from both government and private schools across the district. The initiative is fully sponsored under the BBBP scheme.

EAC Kohima Ane Khieya, NCS, who graced the inaugural session as special guest, declared the camp open. Addressing the participants, she said the badminton camp is a platform to help girls realise their full potential and encourage them to inspire others in their communities.

Meanwhile, in Noklak, the District Administration in collaboration with the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) under the BBBP initiative has announced a badminton coaching program for youth, tentatively starting from the first week of July 2025 at the Multi Discipline Sports Stadium, Noklak.

The coaching will be free of cost and is open to boys and girls below 18 years of age. However, participants are required to bring their own kits. Interested individuals are requested to submit their Name, Age, Gender, Address, and Contact Number via WhatsApp to 9863164705 on or before 30th June 2025.
