Mokokchung, 25 September (MTNews): Just months ahead of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President JP Nadda on Monday appointed Benjamin Yepthomi as the new President of the Nagaland state unit of the party, relieving the incumbent President, Temjen Imna Along.
Yepthomi’s appointment takes immediate effect, as stated in the organizational appointment letter signed by Arun Singh, National General Secretary and Headquarters In-charge.
Yepthomi was serving as the Vice President of the Nagaland State BJP and had previously held the position of State President for the Nagaland Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) for two consecutive terms.
Yepthomi is replacing Nagaland Minister Temjen Imna Along, who was re-elected as the State President on 14 January 2020.
The 43-year old Benjamin Yepthomi, son of Late Khehokhu Yepthomi (Founder of Thahekhu Village & Khehokhu Village) from Dimapur district has been an active member of the Bhartiya Janaya Party for a very long time. He has been holding various responsibilities in the party and has been a hardworking ‘karyakarta’ of the party.
Yepthomi was very actively involved in the election management of the party in the 2018 and 2023 state assembly elections. He also campaigned for the party in elections of various states like Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Bengal, and Karnataka, and in Mumbai.
He was in-charge of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Dimapur during the elections. He also successfully organized the Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan of the party which was highly appreciated by the central leadership.
Temjen Imna Along, the outgoing president of Nagaland State BJP conveyed his congratulations to Yepthomi on the latter’s appointment as the new President of Nagaland State BJP. “Your vision and commitment will definitely take BJP Nagaland to greater heights,” Imna Along tweeted on X. He also wished Yepthomi a successful career ahead.

Meanwhile, Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton congratulated Yepthomi on being appointed as the state BJP President. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Patton said, “We are confident that under his leadership, the party will continue to grow and thrive, expanding its footprints, and building upon the commendable work of Shri @AlongImna.”
