Bhandari, 19 December (MTNews): Yimpang Platoon Post, located in the 7th NAP Bn under the Bhandari sub-division in Wokha district, was inaugurated by Y Patton, the Deputy Chief Minister (Home & Border Affairs) of the Government of Nagaland on December 19, 2023. The event was held in the presence of MLA 40 AC and Chairman SDPDB Bhandari, Achumbemo Kikon.

Yimpang Platoon Post inaugurated to maintain territorial protection and curb illegal activities

Y Patton, serving as the special guest, unveiled the inaugural plaque, disclosing that the Yimpang Platoon Post, also known as ‘Ethung Post,’ was operational until 1970 but had been abandoned due to certain factors. The restoration aims not only to maintain territorial protection but also to curb illegal activities, provide security, and ensure law and order in the state border areas.

Highlighting the strategic importance of the Platoon Post’s geographical location, Patton urged the concerned department to deploy personnel in full strength while ensuring that individuals prone to indiscipline or engaging in substance abuse are not deployed.

Achumbemo Kikon, MLA 40 AC and Chairman SDPDB Bhandari, expressed gratitude to Y Patton for his concern and support in reviving the Platoon Post. He appealed to officers, Platoon personnel, and the public to cooperate for smooth and efficient functioning.

Limasunep Jamir, IPS, IGP (R) Nagaland, highlighted the importance of understanding the location for effective area domination, patrolling, and border guarding. The villagers of Yimpang requested Patton to establish more Police Out Posts for the welfare of the people.

The public in the area appealed for a well-constructed all-weather Foothill road, considering its vital role in the changing times.
