Biggest asset of the Nagas is our land: Advisor TN Mannen

Meriema, 14 April (MTNews): Stating that the “only and biggest asset” of the Nagas is their land, Advisor for Law & Justice, Land Revenue, TN Mannen said that the land,therefore, should be “carefully guarded and utilized for our own self developmental activities.”

 

 

 

 

Asserting that the Nagaland Land Law has become an integral part of Naga Municipal Act, he gave his assurance to try and organize the Nagaland Land Law by drafting in such a manner that it will benefit not only the urban dwellers but also touches the interest of the rural area as well.

 

He said this while taking part in a tree plantation drive which was a part of the platinum jubilee year celebration of Gauhati High Court at new High Court Complex, Meriema on 14 April.

 

The advisor lauded the judicial fraternity, especially the various bar associations under Kohima for the initiative and encouraged the gathered law practitioners to inculcate a fresh and progressive mind that is ever ready to absorb and adapt to the changing times to recognize the importance and supremacy of the rule of the land.

The advisor also highlighted the need for completing the new High Court Complex at the earliest and said he will discuss in detail with the Chief Minister who, according to him, is very much aware and also personally interested to ensure that the dream of all Nagas for the early completion of the complex is realized in record time.

 

The Advisor also said that he was privileged to be part of the auspicious and a pioneering venture which was contributing towards the ecological balancing of Kohima city. He said that it will add to the greening and beautification of the state capital, which is supposed to be the model township and the mirror of the state.

 

Earlier, the program was chaired by Joshua Sheqi, Secretary HCBA and invocation was pronounced by Kekhiengulie, President KDBA.

 

It may be mentioned that fourteen varieties of trees, both ornamental and fruit bearing trees, numbering 1000 trees were planted around the vicinity of the new High Court complex, Meriema.
