BJP Nagaland holds Advent Christmas celebration in Mokokchung
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nagaland on Tuesday said it has not begun any preparations for the vacant 28 Koridang Assembly Constituency seat.
Talking to the media on the sidelines of the BJP Nagaland Advent Christmas celebration in Mokokchung, State BJP President Benjamin Yepthomi, when asked about the party’s preparedness for the by-election, said, “Nothing. At the moment, we are planning nothing.”
“We are not really in an election mood right now but in a festive mode, so we have no preparation right now,” he said.
Responding to questions on why the BJP chose Mokokchung to host its Advent Christmas celebration, Yepthomi said the decision carried no political agenda.
“We hold many programmes in Kohima and Dimapur. So, we thought let’s celebrate this in Mokokchung. There is no political agenda at all,” he said.
The Advent Christmas celebration was observed on December 17 at the Mokokchung Town Hall.
BJP Mokokchung District President Tinu Longkumer said the celebration was organised to appreciate one another and renew the spirit of the political journey.
Yepthomi said the party plans to observe Advent Christmas celebrations every year in different districts and called for reaffirming the BJP’s commitment to peace, unity and development.
Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton and Minister Imna Along could not attend the programme in person and sent messages, which were read out by BJP General Secretary Sunep C Jamir and V Kashiho Sangtam respectively.
The program was chaired by Imlisen Pongen, while the Christmas message was delivered by Rev Dr Bendang Lkr, Pastor, Artang Baptist Church.
