According to India Today NE report, the delegation included former MLAs and representatives from the Dimapur Railway Union.

During the meeting, they highlighted Dimapur’s vital role as the gateway to the Northeast and emphasized the need for upgraded infrastructure to meet the growing demand of passengers and cargo movement.

The BJP leaders called for the expedited implementation of the stalled redevelopment plan, stressing that Dimapur Railway Station could serve as a critical transport and economic hub under India’s “Act East Policy.”

“The station’s redevelopment is not just a local necessity but a national strategic investment,” the delegation conveyed, noting that the “Act East Policy”—evolving from the earlier Look East Policy—has brought renewed attention to connectivity and infrastructure in the Northeast. The policy shift, driven by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, is aimed at transforming the region into a major economic corridor.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw assured the delegation of his ministry’s commitment to infrastructure development in Nagaland. Under his leadership, railway expansion in the state has gained momentum, with several initiatives already in the pipeline.
