The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda will visit the northeast next week to launch the party manifesto for the upcoming Assembly elections in Nagaland and Meghalaya, a senior official of the party said.

“Our Party President will launch the Sankalp Patra for Nagaland on February 14 and Meghalaya on February 15,” ANI news service reported a senior party official as saying.
It was reported that Nadda will be in Tripura on Thursday to launch the party manifesto for the upcoming elections, which are scheduled for next week.

With their Act East policy, the Narendra Modi government has placed a special emphasis on the northeast region since taking office in 2014. While the prime minister has made over 50 visits to the region, the development of a secure northeast has received special attention.

“The Indian government is committed to a safe and secure north-east and resolving the border issues across all the states and will continue to be the key focus that we take to the electorate in the upcoming elections,” the official told ANI.

Apart from security and law and order, infrastructure, development, and women are expected to be key focus areas in the manifesto. The recognition of indigenous tribes, as well as their well-being, the development of the Northeast remains a top priority for the BJP.
