Mokokchung, 14 October (MTNews): C Edge College celebrated its 10th Fine Arts and Cultural Day on 13 October under the theme, “Promoting Culture Through Education.” The Theme Speaker, Meyatemsu Longkumer, Head of the English Department, conveyed the significance of education in preserving and promoting cultural heritage. The speaker underscored the pivotal role of education in ensuring that the rich tapestry of traditions and customs is passed on to future generations.

The annual Narosangala Prize for Folk Art took center stage during the recent cultural competition which holds special significance as it is sponsored by the Principal of C-Edge College in loving memory of her mother, Mrs Narosangla Longchar.

This year’s theme was “Guardians of Tradition” and the competition focused on the unique art form of sketching.

”It’s a tradition in itself that the Narosangala Prize showcases a different type of folk art each year, celebrating the rich tapestry of cultural heritage and creativity that continues to thrive in our community,” an update from the college stated.

It was further informed that more than 100 students actively participated in the vibrant celebration of culture, showcasing their talents and knowledge of diverse traditions.

The first session featured a beautiful rendition of Folk Songs, where students paid homage to their cultural roots through melodious and soulful performances. Following this, an enchanting Solo Folk Fusion performance captivated the audience. The first session concluded with the Traditional Attire Show. The second session was a multi-sensory delight, starting with a delectable presentation of Traditional Cuisines from various regions.

The cultural journey continued with a dynamic Folk Dance performance that showcased the diversity of traditional dance forms. The event also featured the traditional War Cry, symbolizing unity and strength, as well as captivating performances of Heel Kicking and Spear Kicking, demonstrating the physical prowess and agility of the students.

”C Edge College not only celebrated cultural diversity but also underscored the essential role of education in preserving and promoting culture. The 10th Fine Arts and Cultural Day embodied the college’s mission to nurture creativity, promote cultural understanding, and emphasize the importance of education in preserving cultural heritage,” added the press release from the college.
