C-Edge College successfully hosted a two-day celebration of International Mother Language Day and Cultural-cum-Literary Day on February 19 and 20, 2026. Centred on the theme “Youth Voices on Multilingual Education,” the event aimed to encourage students to embrace and celebrate their linguistic heritage.

The programme began at the GK Auditorium with a welcome address by the Department of English, followed by a vibrant student enactment of the well-known Ao folktale Jina and Etiben.
The theme address was delivered by Neelam Kushwaha, Business Lead at Quickserv, who underscored the importance of mother languages in shaping identity and driving innovation. She noted that multilingual education enhances global employability and stated that inclusive workplaces make employees 3.5 times more likely to contribute their full potential. Kushwaha urged young people to view their native languages as vital tools for personal self-worth and professional success in an increasingly globalised world.

The celebration featured a wide range of competitions, including debates, quizzes and extempore speeches, alongside creative performances such as poetry slams and folk songs. Indigenous sports and cultural displays, including heel kicking, spear kicking, a war cry competition and a traditional attire show, added to the enthusiasm, blending ancestral traditions with contemporary education.
The event concluded with a closing ceremony featuring a Bengali traditional dance and the felicitation of winners across 14 competitive categories, marking a successful celebration of youth talent, culture and multilingualism.
