In the lead-up to “Swachh Bharat Diwas,” the NCC cadets of C-Edge College conducted a Cleanliness and Tree Plantation Drive on September 28, 2024. The event, aimed at promoting environmental awareness and community service, saw active participation from 28 cadets. The cleanliness drive commenced at the college gate and continued up to the Chathe River Bridge.
Prior to the start, the cadets assembled at the college to prepare for the day’s activities. They were equipped with 10 sacks generously donated by Promod. Additional support came from the Naga United Village Council, which provided water, and a passerby who donated extra sacks and juice to the team.
According to a statement received here, the efforts of the cadets resulted in the collection of 21 sacks of plastic waste and other disposables from the surrounding areas, particularly around Naga United Village. The cleanliness drive concluded successfully, marking a significant contribution to the ongoing Swachh Bharat Mission.
It may be added that India is actively participating in the nationwide campaign to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Swachh Bharat Mission, which was launched on October 2, 2014, by the Prime Minister. The activities will be carried out from September 17 to October 1, followed by Swachh Bharat Diwas (SBD) on October 2, 2024.
It was mentioned that after a short break, the cadets resumed the day’s activities with a tree plantation drive. Twenty tree saplings, donated by the college Principal, Dr Chubatola Aier, were planted around the campus.
The event culminated in a final gathering where the cadets expressed their gratitude for the support received and dispersed after a successful day of service.
