The Office of the Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies (ARCS), Mokokchung, has initiated the process of cancelling several dormant and non-functioning cooperative societies under its jurisdiction.
According to a notification issued on August 4, 2025, the move is in line with Section 92(2), read with Sections 82 and 83 of the Nagaland Cooperative Societies Act, 2017. A list of the societies identified for cancellation has been displayed on the ARCS office notice board, and copies have been sent to the respective societies via registered post.
Societies listed for cancellation have been given one month from the date of the notification to submit a written appeal for revival. The notification warned that failure to respond within the stipulated timeframe will result in a formal recommendation for cancellation to the Registrar of Cooperative Societies in Kohima.
