The inaugural capacity building programme on data analytics for state government employees was held at the auditorium of NIELIT Kohima on January 19, 2026.

Addressing the programme, Commissioner and Secretary, School Education and SCERT, Government of Nagaland, Kevileno Angami expressed gratitude to the Chief Secretary for initiating and guiding a series of training programmes aimed at upskilling government officials. She also appreciated the Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department and the Administrative Training Institute for coordinating the programme, and acknowledged the Director and faculty members of NIELIT for their support and expertise.

Highlighting the importance of data in governance, Angami said data collection should go beyond record keeping and be effectively analysed and utilised for informed decision making. She noted that data generated through surveys and censuses on population, infrastructure, health, education and basic services must be meaningfully used for planning, policy formulation and implementation.

Director, NIELIT for Nagaland and Assam, Er. L. Lanuwanbang highlighted the growing importance of data analytics and digital skills in strengthening governance and improving administrative efficiency. He emphasised the need for continuous capacity building to keep pace with rapidly evolving technologies and assured continued technical support from NIELIT.
