Capital College, through its Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), successfully conducted a one-day Teachers’ Orientation Programme on the theme ”Transformative Pedagogy for Empowering Students” on July 7. The programme aimed to equip faculty with contemporary strategies for student-centric and outcome-based teaching as the college prepares for the new academic session.
The orientation was moderated by Theja Lohe, Assistant Professor in the Department of Tenyidie, who opened the session by welcoming participants and underlining the urgency for adopting transformative pedagogical methods in light of the evolving educational landscape.
The first session, titled ”Changing Goals and Objectives of Education,” was led by Opangmenla Jamir, IQAC Coordinator. She emphasized that education today must go beyond content delivery to foster critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and global citizenship. She encouraged faculty members to realign their teaching goals to promote holistic development in students, contributing to both personal growth and societal progress.
In the second session, Dr. Rukulu Kezo, Assistant Professor in the Department of English, conducted a practical workshop on ”Blended Pedagogy.” The session demonstrated how simple digital tools like Google Classroom, WhatsApp, and Google Forms can enhance classroom engagement. She shared actionable strategies for using in-person class time more effectively for discussions, interaction, and problem-solving, while digital platforms could handle content sharing and assignments.
The programme concluded with an interactive Q&A session, followed by a vote of thanks. The IQAC urged faculty members to integrate the knowledge gained into their teaching practices and remain open to adopting innovative approaches to better empower students in today’s dynamic learning environment.
