The Chakhesang Baptist Church Council concluded its yearlong celebrations marking its 75th anniversary with a culmination programme held on December 12 at the CBCC Mission Centre, T. Chikri, Pfutsero. The programme called upon the gathering to renew their commitment to God and to one another as the council reflected on its spiritual journey.

Held under the theme “Renew, Rejoice and Reconnect”, the culmination programme witnessed the participation of thousands of people, including representatives from 106 churches under the CBCC as well as guests from beyond the council. Executive Secretary CBCC Rev. Dr. Chekrovei Cho-o, in his address, said the gathering was made possible by God’s faithfulness and the sacrifices of the pioneers. He added that the purpose of the gathering was to renew and reconnect one’s relationship with God and with one another.
Former General Secretary of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho and former Executive Secretary CBCC Rev. Dr. Vezopa Tetseo were the main speakers. In his message, Rev. Dr. Keyho said the occasion would stand as a history for generations to come and appealed to the gathering to reflect on God’s blessings. He said that as receivers of the gospel from outsiders, the people must shoulder the responsibility of spreading the love of God and His faithfulness to others. He added that the community must continue to grow and progress by sharing these blessings.
Rev. Dr. Vezopa underlined the need to reconnect with God and with one another and urged the gathering to renew the covenant with God and rejoice in the Lord. In his greetings, NBCC President Rev. Achu Chang said celebrating 75 years is not only a sign of maturity but also of becoming wiser and playing the role of an advisor. He highlighted the NBCC’s responsibility to speak the moral conscience, uphold Kingdom values and work towards unity among the Nagas.
Rev. Dr. Choi Hanzu, retired senior pastor of Purnsoop Presbyterian Church, South Korea, urged the people to examine their present condition and fulfil God’s given mission. Planning Committee convenor Rev. Dr. Küzhopoyo Tunyi said the occasion honoured the labours of the pioneers and renewed commitment for the years ahead.
Earlier, CBCC President Rev. Dr. Vevo Phesao unveiled the 75th anniversary monolith, Rev. Dr. Phuveyi Dozo dedicated the Tabernacle and former Executive Secretary CBCC Rev. Khrotso Mero released the anniversary souvenir. The CBCC traces its beginnings to initiatives taken in 1948 and was officially inaugurated on February 15, 1950, marking 75 years of God’s faithfulness and blessings.
