The 6th and 4th Semester students of Capital College of Higher Education undertook a Study Tour Program to Mezoma Village on the 2nd of May 2022. The tour was organized by the department of History, Political Science and Tenyidie. Altogether, 24 students along with 4 faculty members took part in the study tour program.

The village of Mezoma, which is famed for head hunting and making war in olden days, is one of the Naga ancestral village sites which have great potential as a tourist destination. The students visited the ancient village gates and village fortifications that are still maintained by the villagers, an update from the college informed.

The ancient megalithic remains seen in and around the village form the most important attractions. Thousands of erect stones are seen sprawling by the village paths and terrace fields, and the stone enclosures and megalithic burial complexes within the villages are other important remains.

The students also visited the memorials constructed to the people of Mezoma who sacrificed their lives to the cause of the Naga Nation. Besides the rich flora and fauna, the village possesses extraordinary and scenic spots and the students also got the opportunity to spend some of their precious time to enjoy nature in its pristine natural setting.

The students learnt many things about the Angami Culture and they were especially struck by the hospitality of the villagers who offered free breakfast to the students and teachers as soon as they reached the village, as well as providing voluntary village tour guides.
