Celebration of Menstrual Hygiene Day observed in Mokokchung district

Celebration of Menstrual Hygiene Day was held on 28th May 2022 in all the Ayushman Bharat – Health and Wellness Centers (AB-HWC) of Mokokchung District, an update from the CMO Office, Mokokchung informed.

The Community Health Officers (CHO) of AB-HWC imparted awareness on use and disposal of sanitary products in the proper way, challenges regarding access to menstrual products, education about menstrual hygiene and period friendly sanitary facilities and to break the taboos and end the stigma surrounding menstruation. Sanitary pads were also distributed to the eligible attendees in the health units.

Keviphunu Khatso, Counsellor, Adolescent Friendly Health Clinic (AFHC) and her team also visited Artang Government Middle School, Mokokchung and provided special counseling session to the students and teaching staff. Some students also shared their first period experience.
